Binding Trick

I happened upon an easy trick to keep your binding neat and tidy when finishing your quilts. My machine (a Bernina 350) has two spool holders--one vertical and one horizontal. The vertical holder is perfect for placing the rolled binding while you're attaching it to the quilt edge. The usually unruly mess of binding sits neatly and unrolls easily. Happy quilting!

  1. I never thought of doing that! But, I've had really good luck with putting the binding on the floor, slightly behind me, on my left-hand side. I put the binding between my side and my arm to hold it flat and to keep it from twisting. It works really well when making and attaching piping, as well. I learned this working in a factory, making round, piped tablecloths.
